Minority
groups in Northern Thailand and the surrounding
countries are undergoing a period of rapid social and
economic change. Some of these changes will
undoubtedly benefit their communities but others
result in a loss of culture, increased poverty and
damaged relationships.
MMF aims to
help equip minority communities to deal with
this period of rapid change. To this end, our
projects work towards building up strong leaders in
the community and among the youth, encouraging
communities to become sustainable, as well as
addressing immediate practical needs.
Leadership
Development: MMF’s primary mission is to
encourage and strengthen indigenous leaders and
local organisations working towards improving the
quality of life of minority people in Northern
Thailand.

Human
Rights: Historically, minority peoples in the
Golden Triangle area have been oppressed by
governments, the drug trade, poverty and
discrimination. Those who have chosen to flee this
oppression as migrants or refugees are especially
vulnerable to abuse. MMF aims to help migrants
understand the laws and access the services that
should protect their human rights. Find
