MMF Projects
Minority groups in Northern Thailand and the surrounding countries are undergoing a period of rapid social and economic change. Some of these changes will undoubtedly benefit their communities, but others result in a loss of culture, increased poverty and damaged relationships.
MMF aims to help equip minority communities to deal with this changing society. To this end, our projects work toward building strong adult and youth resident leaders and encouraging community sustainability. MMF also devotes attention to addressing immediate practical needs of people in this region.
Leadership Capacity Building (LCB): MMF's primary mission is to encourage and strengthen indigenous leaders and local organisations who are working towards improving the quality of life of minority people in Northern Thailand . Find out more Migrant Workers Legal Assistance and Quality of Life Development Project: Historically, minority peoples in the Golden Triangle area have been oppressed by governments, the drug trade, poverty and discrimination. Those who have chosen to flee this oppression as migrants or refugees are especially vulnerable to abuse. MMF aims to help migrants understand the laws and access the services that should protect their human rights. Find out more Mae Yao Integrated Development Project : The overall goal of this program, which focuses on community economic development, is to establish strong, sustainable communities in rural Mae Yao villages. Find out more Nan Tribal Community Strengthening Project: This project, based in Northern Thailand's Nan Province , uses a holistic approach to address a variety of issues including education, leadership, youth, environment, culture and children's rights. Find out more Education and Learning: Milagros Sponsorship Program, Tribal Girls Sponsorship Program (SLS) and Minority Youth Project (MYP II): These three projects work together to educate and empower youth who are in primary school through University. While engaging in Christian ministry, students gain leadership skills and a heart for serving people.Find out more Wawi Tribal Agricultural Network : This project uses a multi-faceted and sustainable approach to improve the quality of life physically, financially, socially and spiritually for hilltribe groups in the Wawi Valley . The primary method is to develop organic and sustainable agriculture. Find out more Natural Resources and Environment Preservation Project : The minority people of Thailand , like people everywhere are being affected by the continued degeneration of the environment. It is therefore important to teach the youth to protect and care for our environment so that the future may be improved.
